Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations - Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York - plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices.
Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, including the Thompson House for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and the Home Care organizations.
Responsibilities:
Media Relations:
Serves as the location's direct contact with the media.
Writes and distributes news releases, sets up news conferences, promotes story ideas to media and assists executives or designated spokespersons in preparation for interviews.
Also acts as the system Public Information Officer in emergency situations and as key spokesperson when necessary.
Manages tour, film and photo shoots on location.
Monitors media and other information outlets and distributes regular updates on news stories, commentaries or postings that impact operations of the system, healthcare or other issues that may concern patient care or delivery of services.
Ensures key organizational leaders are prepared for media interviews or public appearances.
Draft remarks, speeches and key message points as needed.
Facilitate media or speakers training as needed both in house as well as with outside consultants.
Public Affairs:
Monitors government regulations and legislation affecting the organization.
Assists AVP, Public, Government and Community Relations in advocating for legislation or funding that concerns the system, the region or state and federal government.
Community Information/Affairs:
Monitors and contributes to the development and implementation of social media communication.
Works with team to produce videos, blogs or other media to be added to site in conjunction with the marketing department to promote awareness and increase market share.
Works in conjunction with administrators, physicians and staff to provide content/articles for blogs, video and other media.
Assists in writing award submissions for system and individuals as needed.
Serves as liaison to outside groups and organizations including local Chambers of Commerce and other business and community groups.
Works with team to identify and support nonprofit, community service and other organizations that reflect the system's charitable and community service goals.
Coordinates comments and concerns from public and patients in regard to services available and provided via the general email account and other media.
Special Events:
Assists with coordination of health fairs, lectures and other community outreach efforts as needed, including lectures at location where he or she is assigned.
Also submits community benefit reports for all community outreach programs.
Oversees the special events and develops new events as necessary that cater to specific audiences as addressed by the strategic plan and provide support to the Foundation.
Strategic Communications:
Assists leadership in development of communications plan to address crisis management needs such as labor negotiations, disasters.
Coordinates with AVP, to develop key messages, prepare designated spokesperson or act as spokesperson as needed.
Coach employees in communication skills.
Coordinates outside vendors when engaged.
Internal Communication:
Assists Internal Communications Coordinator in the writing, production and implementation of the Health Quest employee newsletter and other internal communications media as required.

Qualifications:
Education:
B.
A.
in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or a related field.
Writing experience in the media, advertising or the public relations setting.
Knowledge of how media firms operate.
Effective oral communication and supervisory skills.
Demonstrated coordination and communications skills (multiple people and projects).
Layout and design, photography skills desired.
Experience:
Five or more years of experience in public relations, journalism, business marketing or related setting.
Writing experience in advertising and public relations or journalism.
